Burke County Smart Start works with many different local agencies who provide services to children and families and works to identify needed programs and services as well as resources to meet those needs.

By blending and leveraging existing resources and providing funding through Smart Start, the program below are made possible to the young children of Burke County:

Read and Grow With Me

The Burke County Literacy Council will administer services to adults and children by providing English literacy education, early childhood development, and parent-child learning opportunities through culturally-diverse books and shared reading experiences.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is dedicated to inspiring a love of reading by gifting books free of charge to children from birth to age five, through funding shared by Dolly Parton and local community partners in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and Republic of Ireland.
