leveraging existing resources and providing funding through Smart Start - the following
programs are made possible to the young children:

Education-Family Connections: Family Connections utilizes a
strengths based approach to provide parent education and support
to families through personal visits and group activities. Contact: Nancy Bailey,

Education/Support Coordinator: The local Resource and
Referral Agency provides a coordinated parenting education and
support system for families of young children.

Burke Even
Start: This activity provides an intergenerational
family literacy program for parents of educationally disadvantaged
children, ages 12 months to five years old (non-kindergartners)
who are seeking their GED, English as a Second Language or better

Burke Family
Literacy Programs: This agency promotes literacy and
English as a second language to parents of children 0-5.

Hope From The
Start: This program provides support, information, and
training for families with young children, birth through five,
with or at high risk for disabilities. Contact: Vickie
